Ursa Major Fantastic Fashion Wash

Gentle, effective face cleanser.

I’m chemically sensitive and allergic to everything, so finding face and body products that work with my skin is always a treat. So far, so good with Ursa Major products, which are made with natural ingredients and are free of sulfates, parades, parabens, petroleum products, and synthetic perfumes. 

Ursa Major’s Fantastic Fashion Wash is clear with a light consistency similar to aloe gel (which has a much less viscosity than what the word “gel” implies), which makes sense since aloe is a key ingredient. Aloe imparts both soothing and healing properties. 

I use the wash once a day, usually at night, applying it using the tips of my fingers or a silicon face scrubby. I definitely felt a refreshing tingle of cedar and spearmint the first time I used it (it still feels tingly and fresh when I apply it, but I don’t notice the mild scent as much now). As Ursa Major describes, it did feel like I got a sweet blast of forest smell, but at a level that didn’t overpower my nose or skin. As the wash is applied it creates gentle suds, just enough to show it’s working but not so much that it gets foamy. Ursa Major suggests leaving the wash on for 30 to 60 seconds to enhance the exfoliation benefits, but I rarely do that because 1) I’m impatient and 2) I use an exfoliating face scrubby. The wash rinses off easily with warm or cold water, and it leaves my face feeling clean, fresh, and soft. 

I am quite surprised how well the Ursa Major Fantastic Fashion Wash cleans my skin without stripping it and at how long my skin feels soft and clean after washing. I have seborrheic dermatitis, which means that I tend to have oily areas on my forehead and nose and dry patches everywhere else, with the added unpleasantness of red, flaky patches under my eyebrows and on either side of my nose. In the time that I’ve been using this wash, these symptoms have faded away, my breakout has cleared, and my skin feels soft and clean. I’ve even received compliments that my skin is looking better. It’s so nice to find a product that nurtures my skin. 

After I’d been using the Ursa Major Fantastic Fashion Wash for a couple of weeks I started reading more about it on the Ursa Major website. The wash is loaded with plant oils, pH balanced, and designed to hydrate my skin. Lemon fruit oil, sugar cane, and sugar maple help exfoliate the skin, while other ingredients soothe and moisturize.
