Timberland Greenstride Motion 6 Waterproof Boots Review

Colorful, lightweight outdoor boots.

Versatile, Stable

I have enjoyed wearing Timberland’s fun, colorful boots for walks and hikes around my neighborhood and in urban parks. They are comfortable, have an outer sole with a significant tread pattern, and provide a more stable ride than I expected.

I tend to walk on the street, on cement sidewalks and pathways, in grass, and on dirt paths. I get pretty decent traction on dry and wet surfaces in these boots. The first time I wore the Timberland Greenstride Motion 6 Waterproof Boots I thought the soles were nice and firm. I like that. When shoes or boots have super soft, flexible soles my forefeet can get very sore after walking for more than 30 minutes or so. The Greenstride’s soles aren’t as rigid as some of my expensive hiking boots, but they feel pretty firm. There was definitely a break-in time with these boots, and they became less firm, but the sole still feels thick enough and stable enough for me.

Fun and Functional

Timberland’s Greenstride Motion 6 Waterproof Boots are attractive and go well with hiking pants and jeans. They’re great for daily wear, travel, and outdoor activities. I like wearing them as daily boots as much as I like wearing them for power walks and light hiking.

The boots come in a few different color combinations that give them a sporty appearance. Mine have tan leather uppers, black nylon side panels emblazoned with contrasting green shapes, a bright red midsole, and a black outer sole.

The black metal lacing grommets look sharp and help me keep laces cinched tightly. I The first four laces run through loops on the back of the tongue, holding the tongue firmly in place. There’s no slipping when I walk. I have mostly worn these boots in dry weather, but on several walks in light to moderate rain, they have kept my feet dry.

Sustainably Minded

The Timberland Greenstride Motion 6 Waterproof Boots contain plant-based materials in the midsoles and recycled plastic in the lining and shoelaces. Also, 55% of the rubber Timberland uses in the soles come from farms committed to regenerative practices.

I have no way to knowing how these steps help the planet in the full context of manufacturing and disturbing consumer products, but it is nice to know that Timberland has some sustainable practices.

Details

I wear men’s US size 9 (UK size 8), and found this boot a bit long. I found a better fit by going down to a US men’s size 8.5.

Available in men’s sizes 7-13 in Black or Wheat and in women’s sizes 5.5-11 in Dark Blue, Wheat, Deep Green.
