Polar Bottle Stainless Steel Water Bottle
When I’m outdoors for hours or days at a time, I prefer carrying stainless steel water bottles because they don’t make the water taste funky like some plastic bottles can. Polar Bottle’s 28-ounce Stainless water bottle isn’t the most attractive bottle I own, but it does the job!
Made out of 18/8 stainless steel (the same grade as kitchen wares), the Polar Bottle Stainless water bottle has a wide-mouth opening that makes adding ice and drinking easy. It’s a durable bottle that has held up well to many outings.
The bottle takes some getting used to because it has newfangled top that allows me to take a drink without removing it! The top just needs a "half twist," and then I can drink out of a small hole (like the type you see on take-out coffee cup lids) in the lid. I like having quick access. When I really need to guzzle, I can remove the lid by unscrewing it. So far, no leaks.
(Note: the "half-twist" lid takes a few trys to get right; you'll know you've turned it enough when the water flows easily through the hole.)
The Polar Bottle isn’t unattractive, just plain. The bottle comes in plain stainless, adorned with tiny icons, or in a variety of patterns. The problem with the patterns is that they’re basically large stickers wrapped around the bottle, and they make the bottle look a bit cheap.
Functionwise, the Polar Bottle’s been quite handy.
Bottom Line: A durable stainless bottle for outdoor adventures, road trips, and daily use.--E.D. (Sept ’10)
