Mountainsmith K-9 Bed

When heading home for the holidays or just away for the weekend, the car always seems full, especially when my 85-pound yellow lab, Roxy, is along for the trip. Still, we always have a spot for her Mountainsmith K-9 Bed.

Whether we’re staying with family or friends, in a hotel room, or even tent camping, the Mountainsmith K-9 bed takes up very little space. It folds out into a hexagonal shaped bed that measures just three feet across. It isn’t huge but it's the perfect size for my dog to curl up on and claim as her own. This bed has an attractive paw print design stitched on the top side which gives it a fun, custom look. When not in use, the bed packs up nicely into its own stuff sack for easy transport or storage.

I like that the Mountainsmith K-9 Bed is easy to clean (and machine washable) because, like all labs, my dog does loves playing in water and splashing around in muddy puddles. The outer fabric is a brushed twill, and the bottom of the bed is made out of a strong nylon oxford cloth for durability and water resistance. On the inside it’s stuffed with a plush synthetic insulation for warmth and comfort, yet it weighs just two pounds.

Roxy and I have been fans of Mountainsmith for quite awhile, having tested the K-9 Cube (a self-contained travel bag that's idea for hauling Roxy's food, bowls, leash, toys, and other supplies) in the past.

We're also delighted that the K-9 Bag fits into the K-9 Cube, which makes our travel packing even more efficient. The car is still crowded, but now I can’t blame it on the dog anymore. (As of 12/12/2011, this item is 35% off at Amazon; see shopping link below.)

Size: 5'' x 36'' x 36'' and 2 lbs.

Color: Heritage Red

Bottom Line: Roxy gives her new Mountainsmith K-9 Bed two enthusiastic “Paws Up” of approval and I'm happy to be able to make her comfortable wherever we go-- C.W. (Dec. 2011)
