Isis Dash Dress : Breezy Comfort for Soaring Temps
Come summer, I love the simplicity of dresses. I just pull one on and I’m out the door, without the hassle of coordinating a top and a bottom. The Isis Dash Dress takes that simplicity one step further with smart pockets that allow me to leave my purse at home.
There are three pockets on the sporty Dash dress: A little two-inch open topped pocket on the left shoulder and two nested pockets on the right hip. I have to admit I haven’t found a use for the chest pocket yet, but the hip storage is great. Inside the large (5 inches square) shoulder pocket there’s a discreet little zippered pouch that’s perfect for stashing a key or a few folded bills (credit cards are too wide to fit through the opening). It’s a very handy little duo. Yet, the look is still streamlined; this is no clunky cargo short.
In fact, the Dash dress has simple lines that make it appropriate for a variety of occasions. I’ve worn it to picnics and on bike-rides to the grocery store, but for evening events, I’ve also dressed it up with a snazzy scarf and heels. It’s that versatile.
The fabric is slightly stretchy, but I rarely find I need that extra give because of the loose fit. I’m normally a size small, but on me the small Dash dress is roomy (especially at the armholes), making it best-suited for tall gals with long torsos and legs. What keeps the fit from trending toward sloppy is a horizontal band of elastic at the lower back that brings in the waist.
The overall look is feminine but modest. Unlike my skinny jeans, which I only wear when I’m feeling hot to trot, the Dash dress is a comforting, feel-good, fallback outfit that I can reach for anytime.
Available in sizes XS-L, in grey, pink, green, or blue.

Bottom Line: A versatile dress that’s perfect for casual wear and dresses up easily, too. --K.B. (May ’12)
