Ibex Woolies Crew Stripe : For Men and Women

There's a benefit to cold spring weather - I get more opportunities to wear one of my favorite wool tops, the Woolies Crew Stripe by Ibex.

This lightweight merino wool baselayer has been a constant in my wardrobe for weeks. In fact, I've hardly worn any other top. I wear it all day with jeans, I wear it in the afternoons for my power walks, and I wear it all evening to stay warm in my drafty living room.

I can do all these things because merino wool breathes well, wicks away moisture well, and is naturally resistant to odor. It's an ideal scenario for me because I like wearing the same thing every day anyway. I can wear the top for days before it starts to smell. So, I save water and energy. I also have the perfect top for travel.

On cool days, the Woolies Crew Stripe keeps me warm. All I need is a lightweight windbreaker for hikes. With temps into the 50s and 60s, I can still wear this top because it breathes so well. Even if I'm hiking or walking, I don't overheat because the wool is so good at regulating my temperature and wicking away sweat.

Because the Woolies Crew Stripe is a baselayer, it's body-hugging and it's cut nice and long through the torso, which I really appreciate. At 6' tall, I have a hard time finding women's gear that fits. I tested a men's size M top and loved having the extra length. I can actually tuck the top into my pants.

The raglan-sleeve construction gives me (and everyone) a nice, custom fit through the shoulders, with the added benefit of flat-locked seams. I haven't had any problems with chafing. Thanks, Ibex!

Available in women's sizes XS-XL, in black/grey stripes and in grey, black, sky blue. Men's top is available in S-XL, in black/grey stripes and in ($69) blue, grey, nickel, and black.

Bottom Line: This top comfortable and effective, ideal for cold weather, as well as for year-round warmth for camping trips, travel, and daily wear.--E.D. (April '11)
