Ibex Balance Boy Short

Finally, a boy short that doesn't ride up. Even better, it's made out of a super fabric that breathes well, resists odors, and wicks away moisture. Just the type of underwear an active gal like me needs. Thanks, Ibex.

Ibex's Balance Boy Short is made out of a super soft, stretchy, lightweight merino wool (86% merino, 10% nylon, 4% Spandex). Yes, merino wool. It's a superior temperature regulator, so it helps me stay cool in the summer by breathing and wicking and warm in the winter by providing insulation. It's virtually seamless, too, so I can wear it under even body-hugging capri pants, skinny yoga shorts, and slim skirts.

I've worn boy shorts before and ended up hating them because they moved around too much. Ibex's Balance Boy Shorts have a nice wide waistband and stretchy panels along the sides and under the waistband to give me a snug (but never tight) custom fit. Most important, the leg holes each have a 3/4-inch think band of elasticized material--a leg band, if you will--that hugs my thighs without binding. The bands do roll up a bit, but they still keep my Balance Boy shorts in place.

Because merino wool performs so well, my Balance Boy shorts are ideal for active pursuits like hiking and power walking where I experience a range of temperatures. The shorts help me stay dry and comfortable. They're also one of my first choices for all-day wear. (I also love Ibex's Balance Brief, pictured here).

Merino wool dries quickly, so I can wash my boy shorts in the sink at night and they're ready to wear the next morning. That's essential for me because I like to pack light when I travel.

Available in red or blue, in women's sizes XS-XL. Ibex also makes merino wool underwear in men's sizes.

Bottom Line: They're cool in summer and cozy in cold temps. I love these soft under shorts. I get full-coverage comfort and the benefits of a performance fabric.--E.D. (June 2011)
