Gordini Women's Floral Mitt
The Gordini Women’s Floral Mitts are a supremely cozy and easy to use ski mitt – a trusty sidekick for fun-filled days at the ski resort.
The first thing I noticed when I slide these on was how comfortable they are. The micro fleece lining and cuff, and stretchy, soft outer fabric, make them feel like pajamas for my hands. Additionally, the low-bulk Primaloft insulation means I get a slimmer mitt that's still plenty warm.
Don’t let the cute floral-patterned stitching fool you – these mittens can stand up to the elements. The outer shell is lined with Gordini’s Aquabloc fabric – a waterproof, windproof, and breathable material. The palms, thumbs, and finger areas are covered with tough goatskin fabric to withstand ski and snowboard edges and help grip ski poles.
The Floral Mitts kept my hands at a comfortable temperature in several different conditions. On a springy, sunny day, when I had overdone it with my choice of long underwear (and was wishing I had remembered the sunscreen), I was grateful that the mitts were low-bulk and breathable so at least my hands didn’t overheat. On a colder, more overcast day in the 20s, my fingers loved the pajama coziness and warmth of the mitts. In both cases, snowflakes and slush easily beaded off of the stretchy shell fabric.
These are a great value for everyday skiing at the resort and related activities such as building snowmen and making snow angels. For under $50, they will keep your hands warm and dry, and they’re simple to use. Just pull them on, and go skiing – there are no buckles, straps, or cords to deal with. One tip I discovered, though, is to remember to tuck the fleece cuffs inside my jacket cuffs so that they don’t get wet – otherwise your cozy factor may be compromised if it’s snowing out.
The Gordini Women’s Floral Mitt is available in Black, Dark Chocolate, Ivory, Purple, and Silver, in sizes small to large. I usually wear a small or medium in gloves and mitts, and found that Floral Mitts in size small gave me a nice, precise fit.
Bottom Line: A super cute, user-friendly ski mitt at a great value. —L.B. (April ‘11)
