GoLite Currant Mountain Paclite® 2-Layer Jacket

I live in a rainy climate and I bike to work, so I need a dependable rain jacket. GoLite’s Currant Mountain Paclite® 2-Layer Jacket is perfect for me because it’s waterproof, breathable, and super light.

Available in both men’s and women’s sizes, GoLite’s Currant Mountain Paclite® 2-Layer Jacket is ideal for hiking, cycling, and everything else I do in the rain! I’ve been a fan of GoreTex’s Paclite® fabric for a long time; it’s so thin and light, which makes it easy to wear and easy to pack when I’m not wearing it.

The Currant Mountain Paclite® 2-Layer Jacket does an excellent job of keeping me dry and comfortable. The material is highly waterproof, all the seams are sealed, and the zippers are waterproof, too.  I’ve never had even a tiny leak, even after hours in the rain.

I tend to heat up very fast, so I appreciate the pit zips. I think the material also does a good job of breathing. The Currant Mountain Paclite® 2-Layer Jacket has two zippered side pockets and a chest pocket, all mesh lined to reduce weight, as well as two slim, mesh sleeve-style pockets. I like being able to stash my wallet, camera, and a snack in my pockets so I don’t need a pack for short, afternoon hikes.

The Currant Mountain Paclite® 2-Layer Jacket has a relaxed fit, so it’s great for layering and works well under a pack. Most often I wear it over a thin merino wool baselayer, and in colder temps, I wear it over a merino wool jacket.

I like that the Currant Mountain Paclite® 2-Layer Jacket’s  hood is attached to a distinct collar. It looks nicer when I’m not wearing the hood, and, more important, I can still zip up the jacket to get neck protection from wind even when I don’t want to wear the hood. I can adjust the hood with side pulls and another pull in the back of the hood.  There’s just enough of a brim to provide protection but it’s not rigid so it never gets bent out of shape.  I also appreciate that the hood fits over my bike helmet.
