Columbia Sportswear® Titanium Little Agnes Parka™ : Snow Style

My Little Agnes Parka, part of Columbia's high-performance Titanium line, is the ideal ski jacket.   Actually, it's a 3-in-1 parka system, with a thin, fleece-y soft wicking liner jacket and a breathable, waterproof outer shell.

It was cold on my first ski outing of the season, so I wore both layers. The liner jacket attaches securely to the outer shell, so the system moved when I moved.   I also had total freedom of movement in my upper body due to the articulated, raglan style sleeves. No bunching, no restrictions.

The inner powder skirt did a great job of keeping out snow (yes, I fell a few times). On the cold lift rides, I was happy to have a hood to pull over my fleece hat to provide protection against the wind.

When my goggles fogged, I pulled out the nifty chamois cloth attached to the mesh goggle pocket (inside the outer parka). How cool is that? Some other handy features: a key clip, a D-ring for lift tickets, security pockets, and an iPod pocket.

I also wore the Little Agnes cross-country skiing. I knew I'd be working hard, so I just layered the outer parka over a turtleneck and thin fleece vest. The Ultra-Wick™ Mesh II polyester lining did an incredible job of keeping me dry, despite the wet snowfall and sweat. The shell has a radial venting system (which means it has mesh vents under the arms), so I didn't even need to unzip the armpit zippers. When I stopped for a snack, it was nice to have the liner jacket to stay warm during my break.

I really love this versatile, breathable, waterproof jacket. It performed well in the mountains, and it's a great winter jacket for around town, too.   In fact, I first wore it for a brisk walk on a rainy day near my home in Seattle--one of those bone-chilling rains where it was hovering between rain and snow but sticking to rain. I stayed warm and dry thanks to the Omni-Tech™ Villi Twill HP™ coated nylon fabric and sealed seams.

Bottom Line:   I'm really happy with the Little Agnes parka. It looks, feels, and works great. Columbia Sportswear deserves high points for style and design. --J.I. (Dec 06)
