Columbia SilverRidge LS Shirt

Sorry, but a lot of outdoor gear is kinda frumpy. That’s fine if I’m going to be out in the elements and more concerned with performance. But I like to have a few items that I can feel attractive wearing for travel and urban outings. Columbia’s Women’s Silver Ridge™ Long Sleeve Shirt is one of those garments.

This lightweight, sun-blocking top is available in men’s and women’s styles. I tested the women’s top, which has a semi-fitted shape that’s highlighted by offset seams along the front of the shoulders and princess seams on the front of the shirt that give the top a sleek, feminine look. I love the super discreet zippered chest pocket and overall subtle style of the Columbia’s Women’s Silver Ridge™ Long Sleeve Shirt.

I tested the top in black because that’s my favorite color, and it’s great for travel because it works well as a coverup for sleeveless dresses and it looks great with jeans. At first I couldn’t find the Columbia logo and was happy that nobody could tell I was wearing a hiking top in the city, but then I discovered a small logo in white on the left sleeve. It’s pretty small, but I would rather not have any logos (or at least have the name in the same color so it’s even less noticeable).

The Columbia’s Women’s Silver Ridge™ Long Sleeve Shirt is well ventilated with vents in the back of the shirt. If it gets hot, I have the option of rolling up the sleeves and securing them with hidden straps to keep them in place. I love the ultra lighweight, stretchy side panels; they help me feel more freedom when I’m moving around, and I like that the collar has an extra flip-up sun visor for extra neck protection. This top dries quickly and packs small, so it’s great for travel.
