Asolo Sunset Hiking Shoe

Hiking with my dog Roxy is one of my favorite things to do, so I need footwear that performs well on a variety of terrains. Asolo's Sunset Hiking shoe has been a great fit for me.

Asolo's Sunset hiking shoe, available in men's and women's styles, is a versatile, lightweight trail shoe. The uppers are made out of water-resistant suede, with mesh polyester panels on the sides. The Vibram sole give me great traction and shock absorption. The inner sole is fairly cushiony.

I like how the laces work on this shoe. They crisscross eight times and can be easily cinched up tight where needed to assure that even when I'm boulder hopping or climbing over rough terrain, I never feel any movement or side-to-side slippage in the shoe. Another nice feature: the rubber toe cap that helps protect against stubbed toes and abrasions. I could hike all day in these shoes, and in fact, I do.

Asolo's Sunset hiking shoe is hardy but not bulky. In addition to the hiking, I’ve actually been wearing my Asolo Sunset hiking shoes most days to work. Initially, I told myself it was to help break them in, but that wasn’t really true because they didn't need breaking in. I just wanted to wear them. They're stylish for a trail shoe with a clean design that's sleeker and more subtle than some of my old, clunky hiking shoes. Because they look so good I can wear them in most every setting involving casual attire.

Asolo's Sunset hiking shoe is hardy but not bulky and can be worn anywhere from the trail to the casual office scene or even into town for dinner and a movie with friends.

Available in men's sizes 7-14 in denim blue/silver and cendre/red and in women's sizes 5-11 in graphite/dark pear, periwinkle blue/silver, or grey/grapeade. I tested a women's model, and found it to run about 1/2 size small.

Bottom Line: A versatile trail shoe that can be worn anywhere from the trail to a casual office setting or out on the town for dinner and a movie with friends. --C.W. (July ‘11)
